Getting Started
What is Moziflow, and who is it for?
Moziflow is an agentic desktop writing app for long-form creators writing and editing fiction, novels, web novels, serialized stories, and other book projects. You can work with Mozi, your agentic writing assistant, to discuss stories, organize characters and worldbuilding, plan chapters, and move forward with drafting and revisions.
It is designed for new writers preparing to start, as well as writers who need to keep track of story details, develop a long-form work, or continue a book you've already started. You always decide where the story goes and what makes it into the final version.
Please note: Moziflow is an agentic writing app and does not include any model usage allowance. You need to configure your own model service, and model usage is billed by your chosen provider.
How is Moziflow different from using chat tools such as ChatGPT or Claude directly?
Long-form writing quality = Model capability × Context orchestration × Work-in-progress state management × Staged production × Independent editorial review × Version control
Chat-based AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude primarily provide the first element, model capability, along with some context-handling capabilities. Users must manage the remaining aspects manually, which is cumbersome. As a manuscript grows, more context needs to be maintained. That growing context can, in turn, increase the risk of model hallucinations, creating a vicious cycle.
Moziflow uses a Harness framework, multiple specialized AI writing agents, and a complete system built specifically for writing to support sustained work on a single book. The agents draw on the current book’s Creative Archive and memory to plan, write, and revise, while building long-term memory to keep long-form writing on track and the context concise. Moziflow provides a system-level solution, rather than simply guiding a model with prompts, skills, and context. This is the core distinction between Moziflow and chat-based AI tools or conventional AI writing products.
Please note: Moziflow is an AI writing agent application. You need to configure your model in the app using an API key before you can chat with Mozi and work on your writing.
I've never used a writing agent. How do I start my first book?
Download and install Moziflow, choose a local workspace where your work will be saved, sign in, and configure your model. Then simply tell Mozi about the story you want to write. If you have already started a book, you can import it into the app and continue writing.
Which devices are supported? Can I write directly on the website or on my phone?
Moziflow currently supports macOS and Windows devices.
Visit the download page for installers and platform options.
Can I write in languages other than English?
Yes. Supported book languages include English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and more.
Free Starter and Subscriptions
What is the welcome offer, and when does it end?
The welcome offer is a subscription promotion available to all new users. While the offer is available, each new user can subscribe to Pro at a discounted price once.
The offer may end at any time. Please check the pricing page for current availability.
What can I do with the free plan? Does it expire?
Free Starter is not a time-limited trial. Each account can create one book and write up to three new chapters in that book.
The free plan gives you access to selected Moziflow features. Chatting with Mozi uses the model you have configured, and model charges follow your provider's pricing.
What does Pro offer beyond the free plan? What does “unlimited chapters” mean?
Pro lets you create more books, import and continue writing existing books, and keep writing new chapters.
“Unlimited chapters” does not include unlimited model usage, nor does it mean you can generate a work of any length in a single request. Model pricing, available usage, and the amount a model can handle per request are still determined by your chosen provider. See the pricing page for Pro features and prices.
Do I still need to pay for AI models after subscribing to Moziflow?
Moziflow is an agentic writing app and does not include any model usage allowance. A subscription gives you full access to the Moziflow app for the subscription term. You need to configure your own model service, and model usage is billed by your chosen provider.
How much does it cost to write a book with Mozi?
There is no fixed amount that applies to every book. The cost depends on your model, book length, how much background material needs to be read each time, and how often you plan, analyze, generate, and revise. Models are usually billed by the amount of text they process, including both input and output. The exact billing method depends on your chosen provider.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time? Can I still open my work afterward?
Yes. You can cancel renewal through the subscription management section of your account. You retain the benefits of your paid plan until the end of the current billing period, after which Free Starter limits apply.
Canceling your subscription does not delete your locally saved work. You can still read, manually edit, and export your existing chapter content.
How do I request a refund?
You can request a full refund within 7 calendar days of your first subscription payment. This applies to both monthly and annual plans. Payments for renewals, plan changes, or subsequent subscriptions are not covered by this policy.
Email support@moziflow.com from the email address associated with your account. Include your order or transaction number, payment date, and reason for requesting a refund. For duplicate charges, qualifying service interruptions, other refund situations, and the rules for requesting and processing refunds, see the Terms of Service.
Models and Connectivity
What is an API key? Do I need to provide my own?
An API key is an access key issued by a model provider. When configuring a model in a third-party app, you need to select the correct provider and enter your API key.
Keep your key secure. Do not include it in your chapter content or share it with others.
I already subscribe to ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro. Can I use that allowance here?
Subscriptions to these chat products and model API usage are generally billed separately. A ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro subscription alone does not give you API access for use in third-party apps.
Check with the relevant model platform to confirm that API access is enabled, that you have available usage, and that you have an API key. See OpenAI's billing explanation and Claude's subscription and API explanation.
Which models does Moziflow support? Can I switch between them?
Moziflow offers configuration options for multiple model providers and also supports compatible custom services. Supported providers currently include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, NVIDIA, Hugging Face, Fireworks, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Moonshot, MiniMax, Z.AI, Volcengine, DashScope, Mistral, and others. Refer to the options shown in the model settings of your current desktop version. Once configured, available models can be selected in your writing conversations.
Models differ in writing style, language support, speed, cost, and ability to handle long texts. You can switch as needed.
Which models are better suited to writing?
Models differ in writing style, language support, speed, cost, and ability to handle long texts. In general, more capable models produce better writing, because agents rely on the capabilities of the underlying model to carry out their work.
Can I still use Moziflow without an internet connection?
You can read, manually edit, and export existing local work offline.
Writing with Mozi
Will Mozi forget characters and earlier plot developments as the book gets longer?
Moziflow uses the Creative Archive, chapter memory, and relevant context to provide references for characters, settings, and plot in later writing. This helps reduce the need to repeatedly explain background information throughout a long-form work.
This does not guarantee that every detail will be accurate. We still recommend reviewing important story details, character changes, and key turning points, and pointing out and correcting any inconsistencies you find.
Can Mozi write in my style?
You can describe your preferred narrative point of view, pacing, language style, and expressions to avoid. When you import an existing book, Moziflow also analyzes its style to help Mozi write in your style.
You can also ask Mozi to remember writing instructions, such as “Keep dialogue concise and explain characters' emotions less.”
Can I ask Mozi to write an entire book? What does the author still need to do?
You can ask Mozi to help plan and write chapters, but a complete book still needs your ongoing involvement as the author. Themes, character motivations, plot decisions, creative judgment, and the final version of the book all need your oversight.
A better approach is to establish a direction, then write, read, and adjust as you go. Moziflow does not promise a publication-ready book from a single generation.
Even today’s leading AI models struggle with originality, and their writing often needs substantial work. That’s why we recommend a collaborative approach: you steer the story, and the agent helps you explore ideas, see what works, and turn them into a draft. From there, you bring the judgment and finishing touches that make the writing shine. It’s much easier to shape a story when you already have something on the page.
Can Mozi write multiple chapters in one go? Do I still need to read them?
Yes. You can even ask Mozi to write 10 chapters in succession. Even the strongest writing models still produce imperfections, so you need to read the result and make some simple edits.
Can I manually edit chapter content written by Mozi?
Yes. Simply click the chapter content with your mouse to edit it.
Importing, Continuing, and Exporting
Can I import a half-finished novel and continue writing it?
Yes. You can import your unfinished novel into the app. Mozi will use your configured model to analyze the existing text, writing style, worldbuilding, and other material to support continued writing.
Because the analysis uses your configured model, importing a large amount of material takes longer and uses more of your model allowance.
Which import formats are supported? Can I import Word or PDF files directly?
Book imports currently support TXT and Markdown files: .txt, .md, and .markdown. For books in Word or PDF format, first convert the files to a supported text format, then check that chapter headings and chapter content are complete.
How should I prepare my book before importing it?
Your book must contain at least two chapters. Put each chapter heading on its own line and include a chapter number, for example, “Chapter 1: A Mirror Within a Mirror,” so the app can recognize the chapters.
If the text appears garbled, save the file with UTF-8 encoding and try again. Reference material, such as character profiles and an outline, can be placed before or after the chapter content. Give each section a heading on its own line, such as 人物设定 (“Character Profiles”) or 大纲 (“Outline”). In the import preview, check the chapter count, order, and content, and confirm that reference material has been correctly separated from chapter content.
Why does importing use my model allowance?
Importing a book does more than save its text. It also uses your configured model to analyze the writing style, organize the Creative Archive, and process chapter memory, preparing context for continued writing.
More chapters and longer text generally require more time and model usage. Actual processing time also depends on model speed and your network connection. We recommend keeping imported books to 5–20 chapters.
After importing a book, how do I get Mozi to continue with the next chapter?
During import, set the planned total number of chapters higher than the number you are importing. For example, if you have 10 chapters and plan to write 30 in total, enter 30.
Once the full import process has finished, open the book's writing conversation and ask Mozi to continue with the next chapter. If the planned total equals the number of imported chapters, the import process will not automatically plan further chapters.
Can I export my writing? Which formats are supported?
Yes. You can currently export an individual chapter or an entire book as TXT or Markdown, making it easy to back up your work or continue editing in other tools.
If you need Word, PDF, EPUB, or publication layouts, first export to a supported format, then use an appropriate editing or layout tool.
Your Work, Data, and Privacy
Where is my chapter content stored?
Your chapter content, character details, worldbuilding, and Creative Archive are saved by default in the local workspace you choose. Keep that workspace folder safe and maintain separate backups of important work.
Signing in is for account management and access to software features. It does not mean your chapter content has been uploaded or backed up.
Will Moziflow use my work to train AI?
Moziflow will not use your chapter content to train AI. When you use AI features, the instructions, relevant chapter excerpts, and creative context needed for the task are sent directly from the desktop app to your configured model provider. Whether that provider retains data or uses it for training depends on its terms and your account settings. Any support material you choose to send is a separate data submission, so check its contents before sending it. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Who owns my work? Can I use it commercially or submit it for publication?
Using Moziflow does not give Moziflow ownership of your work, and Moziflow does not require a share of your earnings from it. You can publish, submit, or create work commercially to the extent permitted by applicable law and your model provider's terms.
You must also follow your intended platform's requirements for AI-generated content, attribution, and disclosure. Using Moziflow alone does not guarantee that AI output is protected by copyright. See the Terms of Service for details.
Could text generated by Mozi resemble someone else's work? Is originality guaranteed?
Similarities are possible. Absolute originality and freedom from infringement cannot be guaranteed. AI may also misunderstand story details, produce inaccurate information, or use familiar and repetitive expressions.
Use material you have the right to use. Before publishing, review the text, facts, and references, and make any necessary changes. You decide which content to include in your work.
What happens to my work if I switch computers or uninstall the app?
Your work is stored in a local workspace. Signing in to the same account on another computer does not automatically transfer the chapters from your original device. Before switching computers or uninstalling the app, back up your complete workspace.
Troubleshooting and Support
The model connection fails, or Mozi cannot continue. What should I check?
Start with the message shown in the app. For model service issues, check your network connection, selected model, API key, service URL, and available usage in your provider account, then test the connection in model settings. If the message concerns sign-in or your subscription, check your Moziflow account status.
If a writing task stops partway through, first review the chapters already saved and the current status, then follow the instructions shown. If the issue persists, record when it happened, the steps you took, and the error message so support can investigate.
How do I contact Moziflow? What information should I provide?
Email [email protected] with your operating system, Moziflow version, when the issue occurred, the steps you took, and the message shown in the app.
Do not send API keys, passwords, or full payment details. If you need to provide diagnostic files, first check them for chapter content, story details, and other private content. Send only the material you are willing to share.
